Wythnos/Week 49

Newyddion da – dim colledigion er mae sawl adroddiad yn y ‘Cardigan and Tivyside Advertiser’ ynglyn â’r rhai sy’n brwydro yn y Rhyfel.

Mae Is-gapten O.J. Jones yn gwella o’i ddioddefwch nerfau yn Llundain.

Adroddir Cycil V. Evans ei brofiadau yn y ffosydd ac y mae 8 o ddynion lleol, aelodau criw yr H.M.S. Majestic a suddwyd yn y Dardenelles, yn gadael Aberteifi ar ol fod adref am bythefnos. Mae George Hope (brawd Mr Hope o Pigeonsford, Llangrannog) sy’n gapten ar yr H.M.S. Queen Elizabeth yn derbyn capan lwcus oddi wrth Mrs Mary Shaw.

I gloi, proffwydoliaeth rhyfedd yn awgrymu y bydd y Rhyfel yn gorffen ar yr unfed ddiwrnod ar ddeg ar yr unfed fis ar ddeg.

The good news that there are no Cardiganshire losses this week although there are quite a few reports in the ‘Cardigan and Tivyside Advertiser’ regarding those fighting in the war.

Lieut. O. J. Jones has come through many battles without being physically wounded but is now recuperating from the strain upon his nerves in a London Home.

Wounded Cardigan Rifleman Cycil V. Evans  tells of his experiences in the trenches and the eight local men, who were members of the crew of the H.M.S. Majestic sunk in the Dardenelles, leave Cardigan town for duty after being on leave for 14 days.

Capt. George Hope (brother of Mr. Hope of Pigeonsford, Llangrannog) of the H.M.S. Queen Elizabeth receives a lucky cap from Mrs Mary Shaw. Apparently this would have been a  ‘covering got on the head of a newly-born child’.

Finally, a very strange report regarding a prophecy indicating that the war will end on the eleventh day of the eleventh month.
