Wythnos 54/week 54: 8-14 Awst/August 1915

[English below]

Colledion trwm; llawer yn cael eu lladd yn Gallipoli.

Cyfarfod brwdfrydig yn y ‘Pavilion’ lle mae trigolion Aberteifi yn datgan eu teyrngarwch i ‘achos cysegredig dynoliaeth’ ar benblwydd dechreuad y Rhyfel.

Cyfeiriwyd at Mrs Llewellyn Phillips, Metron Ysbyty’r Groes Goch yn Giza yn yr Aifft, mewn Adroddiadau Rhyfel (‘Despatches’), ac yn anffodus mae gwraig Preifet Tom Edwards o Aberporth yn derbyn newyddion drwg am farwolaeth ei gwr.

Ceisia’r erthygl ‘A Year of War’ gyflwyno crynodeb o effaith y Rhyfel tra mae’r Brenin yn gyrru i Balas Buckingham ar gyfer cyflwyno’r Gwarchodlu Cymreig efo’r faner catrawd.

Week 54 of the war and losses are high; many are killed in Gallipoli.

The Pavilion is the venue for an enthusiastic meeting of the residents of Cardigan who express their continuing allegiance to the ‘sacred cause of humanity’ on the anniversary of the beginning of the war.

Mrs Llewellyn Phillips, Matron of the Red Cross Hospital at Giza, Egypt is mentioned in Despatches, and the wife of Private Tom Edwards of Aberporth sadly receives a letter with news of her husband’s death.

Another article, ‘A Year of War’  refers  to the above anniversary and attempts to summarise the impact of the war whilst the King motors up to Buckingham Palace in order to present the Welsh Guards with his own and the regimental colours.
