Wythnos 57/week 57: 29 Awst-4 Medi/29 August-4 September 1915

[English below]

Wythnos dda  i Sir Aberteifi gan nad oes colledigion. Mae’r Eidal yn cyhoeddi rhyfel ar Twrci.

Amcangyfrifa M. Jules Roche stoc aur gwledydd rhyfelgar a pharha y casglu a danfon wyau i’r milwyr clwyfedig dan nawdd y Frenhines Alexandra.  Mae Ap Dulas o Dalgarreg wedi cyfansoddi englyn yn disgrifio ‘submarine’ ac i gloi, gweler adroddiad Mr G.S. Hazelhurst ar barodrwydd Preifet Robert Cleaver i arwyddo ‘affidavit’ i’r effaith ei fod wedi gweld Angylion Mons. Roedd y Parch. Ceitho Davies wedi cael sgwrs hefyd gyda Robert Cleaver ynglyn a’i brofiad.

Week 57 of the War is upon us and a good week as there are no Cardiganshire casualties.  Italy declares war on Turkey.

M. Jules Roche estimates the stock of gold in belligerent countries and the collecting of eggs for wounded soldiers continues under the patronage of Queen Alexandra.

Ap Dulas of Talgarreg composes an ‘englyn’ (a poem in strict poetic metre) entitled ‘Submarine’ which describes the submarine as the devil’s device journeying covertly and causing havoc.

Finally, Mr G.S. Hazelhurst writes of Private Robert Cleaver’s willingness to sign an affidavit to the effect that he had seen the Angels of Mons. Private Cleaver had also been in conversation with Captain the Rev. Ceitho Davies and had given a ‘vivid and graphic narrative of the angelic visit’.
