Wythnos/Week 114: 6-12 Hydref/October 1916

[English below]

Ceir adroddiad gan Brif Gwnstabl Heddlu Sir Aberteifi yn dweud ei bod hi’n debyg y bod P.C. 33, Thomas Owen Price, wedi ei anafu yn Ffrainc. Ar hyn o bryd treulia’r Heddlu hanner cant y cant o’u hamser ar waith milwrol.

Yn yr adroddiad ‘Return of Tramps apprehended for offences’ mae un tramp gwryw rhwng 30 a 40 oed o Loegr wedi ei gyhuddo o dan y Ddeddf Cofrestru Cenedlaethol tra dyfarnwyd 4 yn euog o fod yn absennol o dan y ‘Ddeddf Milwrol’ a 2 yn euog am fethu dangos eu cardiau Cofrestru Cenedlaethol.

Ceir amryw o adroddiadau yn y papurau newydd ynglyn a dyrchafiadau, milwyr ar seibiant, rhai sydd wedi eu hanafu a gwasanaethau coffa yn ogystal a lluniau o’r rhai mewn iwnifform.

Yn olaf, mae’r Ystwythian yn cynnwys rhestr o enwau’r bechgyn hynny oedd yn gyn ddisgyblion yn Yr Ysgol Sirol Aberystwyth, sydd wedi syrthio ynghyd a newyddion am bedair o gyn ferched, Sophie Rowlands, Nesta Morgan, Beryl Morgan a Myfanwy Owen, sy’n ymwneud a ‘gwaith rhyfel’.

The Chief Constable of the Cardiganshire Constabulary reports that P.C. 33, Thomas Owen Price, has apparently been wounded in France. 50 per cent of the Police Force’s time is now taken up with military work.

In the ‘Return of Tramps apprehended for offences’ one male tramp aged between 30 to 40 from England is charged under the National Registration Act whilst in the ‘Return of Persons Summoned and Apprehended’, 4 are summarily convicted under the Army Act of being an absentee and 2 are summarily convicted of failing to produce their National Registration cards.

Reports regarding promotions, soldiers on leave, casualties and memorial services are scattered throughout the newspapers as are photographs of those in uniform.

Finally, The Ystwythian carries a list of the names of those old pupils of the Aberystwyth County School who have fallen and also news of some of the old girls, Sophie Rowlands, Nesta Morgan, Beryl Morgan and Myfanwy Owen, who are doing ‘war work’.
