Wythnos/week 133: 16-22 Chwefror/February 1917

[English below]

Mwy o golledion yr wythnos yma, a pharhau mae’r adroddiadau o newyddion diflas. Estynna Cyngor Tref Aberteifi bleidlais o gydymdeimlad gyda gweddw a theulu y diweddar Forwr John James (HMS Laurentic) ac hefyd gyda pherthnasau Mr Llewellyn Morgan. Ceir cofnod eto am y ddau yn y golofn ‘Killed in Action’ ochr yn ochr â Phreifat David Williams, Mr John Henry Lloyd a W. Elwyn Evans (yr olaf o dan golofn Genedigaethau, Priodasau a Marwolaethau).

Ceir cofnod trist arall ym Mwrdd Gwarcheidwaid Sir Aberteifi: Undeb Tregaron, pan dynnwyd sylw’r gwarcheidwaid at achos baban bach a anwyd yn Ystrad Meurig.Bu farw mam y baban yn fuan ar ol yr enedigaeth ac mae’n debyg fod y tad yn gwasanaethu yn y Fyddin ar hyn o bryd.

Yn Aberystwyth cofnodwyd yn llyfr log Ysgol Genedlaethol Aberystwyth fod £83.4s.6c ar fantolen Cynilon y Rhyfel tra galwyd cyfarfod o’r Pwyllgor Cynhyrchu Bwyd i dderbyn Dirprwyaeth o Gymdeithas Rhandiroedd Aberystwyth.

More losses, and gloomy news continues to be reported. Cardigan Town Council express votes of condolences with the widow and family of the late Seaman John James (HMS Laurentic) and also with the relatives of Mr Llewellyn Morgan. Both are again mentioned under the column ‘Killed in Action’ alongside Private David Williams, Mr John Henry Lloyd and W. Elwyn Evans (the latter under Births, Marriages and Deaths)

Another sad record is to be found in the Cardiganshire Board of Guardians: Tregaron Union where in Ystrad Meurig the case of a baby whose mother has died soon after the birth is brought to the attention of the guardians. Apparently the baby’s father is at present serving in the Army.

In Aberystwyth the Returns of War Savings recorded in the Aberystwyth National School log book is £83.4s.6p whilst a meeting of the Food Production Committee is called to receive a Deputation from the Aberystwyth Allotments Association.
