Wythnos/week 158: 10-16 Awst/August

[English below]

Yn anffodus bu llawer mwy o golledion yr wythnos hon ac mae ‘Symlog’ wedi cyfansoddi’r gerdd Ymson y Milwr Lluddedig sy’n disgrifio profiadau’r milwyr ar y Ffrynt.

Caiff y Swyddog Meddygol Y Capten Gwilym James wybod am orchmynion symudiadau’r 295th Railway Company, 109th Company a’r 162 Labour Company.

Gartref mae yna anfodlonrwydd gyda’r gweithwyr sy’n cael eu rhyddhau o ddepo Caerdydd i weithio yn y Sir ac mae Pwyllgor Llafur Sir Aberteifi o’r farn y bydd angen i ffermwyr wneud gwell defnydd o lafur ar y ffermydd i ateb y gofynion newydd sy’n ymwneud ag aredig.

Mae Pwyllgor Gweithredol Amaethyddol Rhyfel Ceredigion yn trafod yr angen i gadw ceffylau amaethyddol ar gyfer trin tir ychwanegol, arolwg y Sir ac aredig â thractor, a bydd cyfarfod o brif grefftwyr y Sir yn cael ei gynnal ar Awst 15 fed er mwyn trafod ffyrdd o sicrhau a dosbarthu nwyddau amaethyddol yn ystod y flwyddyn sydd i ddod.

Yn olaf dylai ffermwyr sy’n dymuno llogi tractorau modur ar gyfer aredig wneud cais i John Jones, y Swyddog Gweithredol yn Llanbedr Pont Steffan.

Sadly many more losses are suffered this week and ‘Symlog’ pens the poem Ymson y Milwr Lluddedig, (‘Soliloquy of the Wearied Soldier’) which describes the experiences of those at the Front.

Medical Officer Captain Gwilym James receives notification of the orders of manoeuvres for the 295th Railway Company, the 109th Company and 162 Labour Company.

At home there is dissatisfaction with the poor type of worker released from the Cardiff depot for work in the County, and the Cardiganshire Labour Committee are of the opinion that farmers will need to make better use of farm labour to meet the new demands for ploughing.

The Cardiganshire War Agricultural Executive Committee discuss the need to reserve agricultural horses for the cultivation of additional land, the county survey and tractor ploughing, and a meeting of the county’s principal tradesmen is to be held on August 15th in order to discuss the ways and means of securing and distributing agricultural commodities in the coming year.

Finally, farmers who wish to hire motor tractors for ploughing should apply to John Jones, Executive Officer, at Lampeter.
