Wythnos/week 163: 14-20 Medi/September 1917

[English below]

Rhestr hirfaith arall o anafusion Ceredigion ac mae tribiwnlysoedd apêl y Sir yn parhau. Gohiriwyd achos Llanbedr Pont Steffan, Walter Davies, Blaencruiser – ai dyma ddyn ffordd y Cyngor Sir, ‘Watkin’ eto fel y crybwyllwyd yn ystod wythnos 156, ac ati? (neu berthynas i Watkin o bosib?)

‘Er Cof’ – Mae cof am y Capten M. Kemes A. Lloyd fel ‘un o anfarwolion y 1st 7 divisions’ ac mae newyddion am y rhai a glwyfwyd ac a laddwyd yn ymddangos yn y ‘Gofrestr Anrhydeddau’.

Llongyfarchiadau i’r Cynghorydd Lefftenant B.T. Lloyd a’r Cynghorydd Yr Uwch Gapten G. Fossett Roberts  yng nghyfarfod Cyngor Bwrdeistref Aberystwyth a bu ffrindiau lu Sapper Joshua T. Jones, Rhydlas, Penmorfa yn ei longyfarch ar ennill Medal y Fyddin am wrhydri.

Mae ‘Tommy’ yn llongyfarch rhywun neu’i gilydd ar y cerdyn post, dyddiedig 14 Medi, ag arno lun o filwyr. Mae’r cerdyn post hwn o albwm Sarjant Major Harton Daniel Davies (Cyf ADX/375) The Eagles, Stryd y Castell, Aberteifi.

Mae Cyngor Sir Aberteifi’n derbyn llythyr gan y Pwyllgor Gwaith i sefydlu cangen o Gymdeithas y Cyn Forwyr a’r Cyn Filwyr ac, fel y soniwyd yr wythnos diwethaf, mae siwgr wrthi’n cael ei ddosbarthu,- a’r gobaith yw y bydd y siwgr yn cyrraedd Siop y Coop yn Aberteifi ar 17 Medi neu ar ôl hynny.

Yet another long list of Cardiganshire casualties and the county appeal tribunals continue. The Lampeter case of Walter Davies, Blaencruiser is adjourned – could this be County Council roadman ‘Watkin’ again as mentioned in week 156, etc? (or possibly a relative of Watkin?)

‘In Memoriam’ – Captain M. Kemes A. Lloyd is remembered as ‘One of the immortal 1st  7 Divisions’ whilst news of the wounded and killed appear in the ‘Roll of Honour’.

Congratulations are extended to Councillor Lieutenant B.T. Lloyd and Councillor Major G. Fosset Roberts  in the  Aberystywth Borough Council meeting and the many friends of Sapper Joshua T. Jones of Rhydlas, Penmorfa congratulate him on having won the Military Medal for gallantry.

‘Tommy’  extends his congratulations to some unknown person on the postcard dated 14th September which depicts a couple of soldiers. This postcard is to be found in the album of Sergeant Major Daniel Harton Davies (Ref ADX/375) of The Eagle, Castle Street, Cardigan.

Cardiganshire County Council receive a letter from the Executive Committee for the setting up of a branch of the  Discharged Soldiers and Sailors Association  and, as mentioned last week, the distribution of sugar is underway; hopefully, the sugar will arrive at the Cooperative Stores in Cardigan on or after September 17th.
