Wythnos/week 177: 21- 27 Rhagfyr/December 1917

[English below]

Mae hi bron yn Nadolig, ond nid oes llawenydd i lawer o’r rhai hynny a enwir yn y Cardigan and Tivyside. Sonnir y ‘Roll of Honour’ am y meirw, y colledig a’r clwyfedig.

Clywir deg achos arall yn Nhribiwnlys Bwrdeistrefol Aberteifi – gwrthodir bron pob apêl, ond mae rhai’n cael eu hesgusodi am dri mis. Roedd Tribiwnlys Gwledig Aberteifi’n delio ag achosion eraill hefyd.

Dymunwyd Nadolig Llawen i ‘Tommy’ a ’Jack’ yn y golofn ‘Week by Week’ ac mae’n debyg bod y fest yn ffenestr siop ddillad Mr D.N. Lewis ar Stryd y Priordy yn werth ei gweld!

Anrhydeddir mwy o wŷr Aberteifi – enwir y Capten O.J. Jones a’r Morwr Alfonso Davies mewn adroddiadau.

Mae’r Adran Cynhyrchu Bwyd yn rhoi cryn sylw i’r bwyd a roddir i geffylau gwedd – y bwriad yw bwydo llai o geirch iddynt, a defnyddio pethau eraill y credir a fyddai’n ddigonol, fel eisin sil, india-corn a thriogl.

Yn Aberystwyth daw disgyblion yr Ysgol Wladol adref ag amlenni ar gyfer cyfraniadau at Gronfa’r Plant er Milwyr Dalledig.

Christmas is upon us but there is no seasonal joy for many of those mentioned in the Cardigan and Tivyside. Those who have lost their lives, the missing and the wounded are mentioned under the ‘Roll of Honour’.

A further 10 cases are heard at the Cardigan Borough tribunal, most appeals being either dismissed or exempted for 3 months. Cases were also dealt with at the Cardigan Rural Tribunal.

’Tommy’ and ‘Jack’ are wished a Happy Christmas in the ‘Week by Week’ column and a ‘marvellous vest’ is to be seen in the window of Mr D.N. Lewis , outfitter, Priory Street!

Cardigan men receive more honours: Captain O.J. Jones and Seaman Alfonso Davies are both ’mentioned in Despatches’.

Special attention is given to the feeding of the working horse by the Food Production Department,- the consumption of oats by horses is to be reduced and alternatives such as wheat bran, maize and molasses amongst other feeding-stuffs are considered satisfactory substitutes.

In Aberystwyth the pupils of the National School take home an envelope in which to place a contribution towards the Blinded Soldiers’ Children Fund.
