Wythnos/week 271: 12-18 Hydref/October 1919

[English below]

Mae ysgrifau coffa’r Lefftenant George Stewart Berrington-Davies a’r Uwchgapten Prioleau yn ymddangos yn y papur newydd. Roedd y cyntaf wedi gwasanaethu yn Rwsia cyn mynd yn sâl a chael ei ollwng yn wael o’r fyddin tra bod yr ail wedi bod yn aelod o’r Staff Cudd-wybodaeth yn yr Aifft.

Yn Memoriam,- cofir y canlynol,- y Lefftenant 22 mlwydd oed S.D. Evans o Feulah, y Cloddiwr David Lloyd, y Preifat 19 mlwydd oed David Lewis Richards o Aberystwyth a’r Is-gorporal E.D. Rowlands o Dan-y-Cae, Aberystwyth.

Yn ffodus mae eraill wedi dychwelyd adref. Ym Mrongest cynhelir cyngerdd i Willie H. Jones, Nathan Davies ac Evan Owen James ac mae ffrindiau’n falch iawn o groesawu’r Preifat Tom Thomas adref yn Henllan. Mae’r Preifat David Davies o Gwm Rheidol wedi cael ei ddadfyddino fel y mae’r Gynnwr William Jones o Bontarfynach a thri arall yn Nhregaron,-Dr D.R. Jones o Salonica; y Preifat R.T. Jones o India; a’r Preifat Gomer Evans o Ffrainc.

Mae Johnnie Jones o Landysul, a gafodd ei ddadfyddino’n ddiweddar, yn priodi Miss Mary Jones ac yn y Borth mae T.R. Jones wedi cychwyn ar ei ddyletswyddau fel clerc rheilffordd.

Nid yw dadfyddino Byddin Tir y Menywod yn golygu tynnu’r gweithwyr yn ôl. Mae cyflogwyr yn awyddus i’w cadw lle bynnag y bo modd i wneud hynny.

Mae trethdalwyr Aberteifi wedi mynychu cyfarfod a gynhaliwyd i hyrwyddo ymgeisyddiaeth M Griff Jones, sy’n rhedeg o dan nawdd Ffederasiwn y Milwyr a’r Morwyr a Ryddhawyd.

Mae ‘Beddau’r Dewrion’ yn nodi bod llawer wedi’i wneud yn ystod y flwyddyn ddiwethaf i ddarganfod pwy sy’n gorwedd o dan y beddau dienw sy’n gorwedd yn nhir Gogledd Ffrainc a Fflandrys. Y gobaith yw cwblhau’r dasg hon erbyn mis Mawrth nesaf. Yn y cyfamser ni chaniateir i unrhyw un fynd draw i weld y beddau nes bod y gwaith o’u cofrestru wedi’i gwblhau.

The obituaries of Lieutenant George Stewart Berrington-Davies and Major Prioleau appear in the newspaper. The former had served in Russia before becoming ill and being invalided home whilst the latter had been a member of the Intelligence Staff in Egypt.

In Memoriam,- the following are remembered,- 22 year old Lieutenant S.D. Evans of Beulah, Sapper David Lloyd, 19 year old private David Lewis Richards of Aberystwyth and Lance-Corporal E.D. Rowlands of South-road, Aberystwyth.

Happily others have returned home. In Brongest a concert is held for Willie H. Jones, Nathan Davies and Evan Owen James and friends are very pleased to welcome home Private Tom Thomas in Henllan. Private David Davies of Rheidol Valley has been demobilised as has Gunner William Jones of Devil’s Bridge and three others in Tregaron,-Dr D.R. Jones from Salonica; Private R.T. Jones from India ; and Private Gomer Evans from France.

Recently demobilised Johnnie Jones of Llandyssul marries Miss Mary Jones and in Borth T.R. Jones has commenced duties as railway clerk.

The demobilisation of the Women’s Land Army does not involve the withdrawal of the workers. Employers are anxious to retain them wherever possible to do so.

Ratepayers of Cardigan have attended a meeting which was held to further the candidature of M Griff Jones, who is running under the auspices of the Discharged Soldiers and Sailors Federation.

‘Beddau’r Dewrion’, (the Graves of the Brave), reports that during the past year much has been done to discover who lies under the unnamed graves which lie in the land of Northern France and Flanders. It is hoped to complete this task by next March. Meanwhile no one is allowed to go over to view the graves until the work of registering them is completed.
