Wythnos/Week 272, Hydref/October 19-26 1919

[English below}

 Sonnir am angladd y diweddar Lefftenant Berrington-Davies (fel y soniwyd yr wythnos diwethaf) yn y papur newydd. Mae cyd-swyddog wedi ysgrifennu mai’r Is-gapten Berrington-Davies yn esgeuluso’i hun a gwneud ei ddyletswydd pan ddylai fod wedi bod yn yr ysbyty oedd achos ei farwolaeth.

Mae trasiedi Cribyn y soniwyd amdani yn ystod yr wythnosau blaenorol yn y newyddion eto. Daeth y rheithgor i’r casgliad fod y ddau frawd cyhuddedig o Glawddmoel yn ‘ddieuog’.

Mae’r Rhingyll A.W. Perry Morgan o Aberystwyth wedi cael ei ddadfyddino tra bod cinio croeso adref mewn cysylltiad ag adran argraffu’r Cambrian News wedi’i roi yn y Central Hotel.

Mae’r Rhingyll H.E. Smith wedi’i gynnwys yn y rhestr o enwau a ddygwyd i sylw’r Swyddfa Ryfel am wasanaethau mewn cysylltiad â’r rhyfel.

Mae William Jones, a elwir hefyd Mason a gafodd ei ddadfyddino ag enw da, wedi pledio’n euog i briodas ddwywreigiog ac mae wedi cael ei anfon i’r carchar gyda llafur caled am naw mis.

Cyhoeddwyd canlyniad Etholiad Trefol Aberteifi gan y Maer. Roedd pleidlais y menywod yn un gref. Derbyniwyd y nifer fwyaf o bleidleisiau (721) gan ymgeisydd y Morwyr a’r Milwyr, Griff R. Jones.

Mae ‘Llith y Milwr’ yn sylwebaeth ar yr oes newydd gan I. Aronfa Griffiths. Mae’n credu bod y mwyafrif yn cytuno ag ef nad yw’r oes newydd hon o frawdoliaeth fel y clywyd amdani yn y ffosydd yn amlwg o gwbl yn ein gwlad heddiw.

Mae sefydliadau Cynghrair y Cenhedloedd ledled y wlad yn annog y dylid cadw dydd Sul nesaf fel diwrnod o ddiolchgarwch am heddwch.

The late Lieutenant Berrington-Davies’ (as mentioned last week) funeral is reported in the newspaper. A brother officer has written that Lieutenant Berrington- Davies’ neglect of himself and sticking to his duty when he should have been in hospital was the cause of his death.

The Cribyn tragedy which was reported in previous weeks is again in the news. Both accused brothers of Clawddmoel were found by the jury to be ‘not guilty’ and they were acquitted.

Sergeant A.W. Perry Morgan of Aberystwyth has been demobilised whilst a welcome home dinner in connection with the printing department of the Cambrian News has been given at the Central Hotel.

Sergeant H.E. Smith is included in the list of names brought to the notice of the War Office for services in connection with the war.

William Jones, alias Mason who was demobilised with a good character, has pleaded guilty to a bigamous marriage and has been sent to prison with hard labour for nine months.

The result of the Cardigan Municipal Election was declared by the Mayor. The ladies’ vote was a strong one. The greatest number of votes (721) was received by the Sailors and Soldiers candidate, Griff R. Jones.

‘Llith y Milwr’ (The Soldier’s Lesson), is a commentary on the new age by I. Aronfa Griiffiths. He believes that the majority are in agreement with him that this new age of brotherhood as was heard of in the trenches is not at all evident in our country today.

The League of Nations’ organisations throughout the land are urging that Sunday next be observed as a day of thanksgiving for peace.
